Mardi Base Camp Trek - 9 Days
Day 1
Arrival at Kathmandu. Warm welcome with khada or nepali topi. You will be taken to the thamel market for Trekking gear shopping. At 7 pm we will take night bus and travel to Pokhara. At 6 am we will reach Pokhara.
Day 2
Your guide and porter will pick you up at your hotel in Pokhara at 8 AM and drive to Kande, where your trek began, the trek to Pitan Deurali (1925m, about 4 hours trek). Overnight at the lodge.
Day 3
From Pitan Deurali to Low Camp (2985m). After trekking for about four hours, you will stop for lunch at Forest Camp (2600m). It takes 6 hours to trek from Pitan Deurali to the Low Camp, and overnight stay at the Lodge.
Day 4
Trek from Low Camp to High Camp (3,700m). There will be spectacular views of Machhapuchhre ahead and Annapurna South to the left. The trek to High Camp (3550m) took about four hours. Overnight at the Lodge
Day 5
You will hike to Mardi Himal Base Camp (4500m) and back to High Camp on this excursion. Approximately four to five hours will be needed to complete the round trip. Alternatively, you can hike to a viewpoint about halfway and back to High Camp if you do not want to trek all the way to Mardi Himal. Trek down to Badal Danda (3210m), and then overnight at a lodge
Day 6
Trek to Siding village for 5 hours hike, and drive back to Pokhara. There is also the option of extending it one more day. If you add one day to your trek, you will trek from Siding to Lwang via Ghalel it takes about 5-6 hours, and drives back to Pokhara.
Day 7
Free day . You can take rest or roam around. Own activities. Overnight stay at Pokhara.
Day 8
Travel back to Kathmandu. Free time. Overnight stay at Kathmandu.
Day 9
Departure to your destination country.
Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek Difficulty
The Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is generally considered to be a moderate trek. This hike is suitable for individuals who are physically healthy and have some prior trekking experience. The Mardi Himal route takes you through picturesque landscapes, charming villages, and lush forests, offering an exciting and memorable journey. Although the trek doesn't involve any technical climbing, there are steep ascents and descents, especially in the higher altitudes. The weather can also be unpredictable, ranging from warm and sunny to cold and snowy, adding an element of challenge. The trail might be slippery at times, so sturdy footwear is recommended. The accommodation along the route is basic but comfortable, and the local teahouses provide warm hospitality.
Weather During Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek
The weather during the Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek is quite diverse and can vary depending on the season.
Spring (March to May) brings mild temperatures and blooming rhododendron forests, creating a picturesque landscape. Daytime temperatures hover around 15-20 degrees Celsius (59-68 degrees Fahrenheit), offering pleasant trekking conditions. The skies are generally clear, providing breathtaking views of the surrounding mountains.
Summer (June to August) brings warmer temperatures, with daytime highs ranging from 20 to 25 degrees Celsius (68 to 77 degrees Fahrenheit). However, this season also comes with increased rainfall, so be prepared for occasional showers.
Autumn (September to November) is considered the best time for trekking, with cool temperatures ranging from 10–15 degrees Celsius (50–59 degrees Fahrenheit) during the day. The skies are clear, offering stunning views of the Himalayas.
Winter (December to February) brings colder temperatures, with daytime highs ranging from 5 to 10 degrees Celsius (41 to 50 degrees Fahrenheit). While the trek is still possible, be prepared for chilly conditions, especially at higher altitudes.
Elevation Gain During Mardi Himal Base Camp Trek
The trek begins with a scenic drive from Kathmandu to Pokhara. From there, the journey starts on the second day with a drive to Kande (1770 m), followed by a trek to Pothana. As you ascend, each day brings new landscapes and challenges, with the third day taking you from Pothana to Forest Camp (2600 m). The fourth day involves a trek from Forest Camp to High Camp (3,580 m) via Low Camp (2,600 m), providing a significant elevation gain. The pinnacle of the trek occurs on the fifth day, as you reach Mardi Himal Base Camp at an impressive altitude of 4,500 meters before returning to High Camp.
